Synopsis

[Gacha].

A microtransaction revolution that has taken over the mobile gaming market, offering the chance to attain powerful in-game items in exchange for a small amount of money. A small chance, but a chance nonetheless. A risky gamble, to be sure, but one that costs so little with each try that it ensnares all who fall prey to its siren song.

For some, the [Gacha] is a harbinger of doom. For others, it is a power that elevates them above their peers.

For Brynhildr Weber, it is a form of solace. Suffering from suffocating expectations and a harsh working environment, with the troubles of being someone who looks different from her peers, compounded by an unfortunate name bestowed by well-meaning parents, Brynhildr finds recourse in the little gambles of the [Gacha], the little spikes of happiness that it grants her.

But when she finds a new [Gacha] game on her phone, everything changes. She’s sent to another world, a world of fantasy and magic. Moreover, she’s granted a class that fits her perfectly.

And so began the tale of the world’s first, and only, [Gachamancer].

Disclaimer/Trigger Warnings (Please Read!)

This work will undoubtedly have depictions of homosexual relationships. There may also be gore. I’m undecided on whether I’m going to end up having 18+ scenes, I’ll update this warning if/when I decide to include them.

Additional Notes

This story is intended to be a fun break from writing my main work, Seeking Elysium. As such, it will not be updated with any form of regularity, and I’ll only write chapters for it when I feel like it. Additionally, this will be stuffed to the brim with tropes, cliches, and generic developments and characters, since unlike my other work, I’m not making anything resembling a conscious effort to avoid these. One major function of this work is for me to expel my generic, trope-y ideas so they don’t infect my main story. You have been warned.

Also, this story has a little gimmick built within it. Put simply, my protagonist, at parts of the story, will have a chance to roll a gacha for items. Whenever she does so, I will be rolling on a separate set of gacha tables to determine what she gets – that is to say, I will not be controlling her gacha pulls after the first. So the tools available to her will be completely random, and the direction of the plot is thus largely not within my control. Let’s see where this takes us.
