Author’s Note

Hello; this is the actual Author’s Note this time. ExtantLily speaking, and I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read the first volume of Seeking Elysium.

Coming into this story, I had an idea of what I wanted to do, and several ideas I wanted to try. Needless to say, these ideas have evolved over the course of this volume, and I’ve made changes accordingly; as Rosalind’s note suggests, Seeking Elysium – which was planned as a first-person, single-perspective work – will, as of the next volume, become a first-person, multi-perspective work. It’s an idea I played around with for a while without really committing, because the execution of such a work is a difficult task; but I have made my decision. I think a multi-perspective approach will be the most effective for conveying the kind of story I want to convey.

I can say for a fact that I’ve had a lot more fun writing SEly than I did LxM, partially because I’ve gone for a more lighthearted style here that’s not so heavy-handed with plot devices. Thus far, SEly has developed far more organically than LxM did, and it was far more enjoyable to write as a result. I hope that you readers derive as much joy from reading SEly as I have from writing this first volume, and I hope you’ll continue to stick with me as we accompany Ely and Ros on their journey together.

For volume 2, I’ve planned it to be slightly shorter than volume 1, but we all know how well my writing adheres to my intentions – that is to say, not very well at all. We’ll see.

Once again, thank you for reading Volume 1, and I hope you’ll come back for more in volume 2!
